Phool-proof Stress Buster

There’s a small tiled space that separates my work from my home.

A tiny granite staircase with four steps is all the traffic I see. Enroute, I spot a ladybug or two, trying to overtake me. Sometimes the synchronised koel choir, and almost always a photogenic flock of pigeons, waiting for a photo shoot.

This route is probably a litmus test for my mood. People use a mood tracker in an app or a journal, I check to see if I have multiple photos in my gallery of all things garden!

Last Sunday, my maaliji (a whole post needs to be done featuring him) who I share an incredibly fragile relationship with, left behind a whole bucket of flowers. The flowers, soaking in a blue bucket left no stone unturned in making me smile.

The whole evening was spent rather slowly, first showcasing it to every family member, displaying that pail of joy proudly.. then arranging it carefully around the house.

It’s a long, sweet process. Drawing up common vessels to pose as a vase, turning on the radio to fill the home with retro tunes.

A barni now sits bright and full, with the week’s stash of joy.

A water jug holds all the yellow, posing gently in front of a time piece.

My favourite is the cake stand being turned into a grassland, layered with tiny flowers.

Flowers are my biggest ammunition, something I use, most often on myself. An armour so colourful, it guarantees me a clearer, calmer mind.

Let me know if you feel the same?

They are definitely one of the most beautiful fragile creations of God. Brings an instant smile to my face too whenever I see them. Such a beautiful writing I am so glad you started this pooja

  2. I find so much in common… Like using the burnis Or any other thing that can be used as vases for the flowers. Sometimes I collect flowers from the weeds growing in the pots. They are so tiny and cute. But I could never be able to comprehend it as beautifully as you pooja. Small joys… They definitely are. 😊
